About Toy Factory Project

Toy Factory Project brings together musicians whose paths have crossed through some of the most respected corners of Southern rock, improvisational music, Americana, and roots music.

The project is led by original Marshall Tucker Band drummer Paul T. Riddle and celebrates the music, stories, and spirit surrounding the legendary album Toy Factory, a collection of songs recorded by The Marshall Tucker Band during a transitional period that remained largely unheard for years before finally reaching listeners.

Alongside Riddle's connection to Marshall Tucker's history, the project draws from a deep well of musical experience represented by players whose careers have included work with bands and artists such as Marcus King, Oteil Burbridge, Blackberry Smoke, and many others across the Southern jam, blues, and rock worlds.

For some listeners, those connections run deep.

I first saw Marcus King long before he became a household name, opening for the Chris Robinson Brotherhood on a snowy weeknight when winter weather delayed the headliners. Marcus stepped onstage and absolutely leveled the room.

I also had the chance to see Oteil Burbridge during the Tedeschi Trucks Band Revelator era and caught Charlie Starr when Blackberry Smoke joined the Wheels of Soul tour. Different stages. Different years. Same feeling: musicians carrying forward traditions while creating something entirely their own.

Toy Factory Project feels connected to that same current.

Not nostalgia.

Continuation.

A reminder that great songs don't stop traveling simply because time has moved on.
