Steven’s Hand of Jerry
Contamination Event: Hands, Time and BirthdaysMost deliveries obey ordinary logistics.
This one seems to have followed a different map.
A Hand of Jerry artifact departed the studio carrying its certificate, field notes, and a few small provisions for the road. Nothing unusual there. Packages leave every week.
It reached its Nomad on August 1.
Only afterward did the ledger reveal another coincidence.
The order had been placed on July 26, this maker's birthday. Six days later, the artifact arrived on August 1, Jerry Garcia's birthday.
No scheduling was intended. No symbolism was engineered.
Only afterward did the pattern reveal itself through the dates on a somewhat arbitrary calendar.
A message returned soon after:
"Thank you for all of the extra goodies... I love the design, and all of your special care notes and certificates. You're the best!!! I'll wear it with a smile. Enjoy the journey!!!"
No prediction was made.
No ritual was performed.
No one involved intended the timing.
Still, every so often an artifact appears to choose its own moment.
Field observers have reported that these alignments occur just often enough to resist dismissal and too rarely to become expected.
Field Note: Consensus reality remains remarkably reliable until, for a brief instant, it rhymes with itself.
Some observers maintain that calendars merely measure time. Others suspect they occasionally reveal it.
Field observations remain inconclusive.
Clearly, there are no accidents.
