In July 1988, more than 30,000 Deadheads transformed Oxford Plains Speedway into a temporary civilization of dust, tents, music, and low-grade chaos. Somewhere between Bird Song, muddy communal faucets, and fences becoming theoretical, consensus reality loosened its grip. Then came the lobster truck.
